Canterbury Golf Club’s Chris Almond is officially a world-record holder after receiving confirmation from the Guinness Book of World Records he is the youngest player to beat their age.
Almond – then aged 66 – scored gross 65 in his very first competition at Scotland Hills on June 2, 2022, and has been seeking ratification since.
He said: “I’m very, very excited,” after a confirmation email arrived from GBWR last week which read: “We are thrilled to inform you that your application for ‘Youngest golfer to score their age’ has been successful and you are now the Guinness World Records Title Holder! Congratulations, you are Officially Amazing!”
