Barcelona rejected world-record €250 million PSG offer for teenage sensation

Lamine Yamal has illumined the UEFA Euro 2024 with his bright displays and incredible talents. Just last night, he helped Spain soar into the finals with a stunning strike from range that earned him the man-of-the-match award.

Unsurprisingly, Yamal’s ascendance this season has seen him earn interest from all over Europe.

Barcelona rejected a grand offer for Lamine Yamal

Indeed, as per a major update by SPORT, Barcelona turned down a €250 million bid for Lamine Yamal ahead of the Euros, affirming him as indispensable to their long-term sporting vision.

Just a few weeks ago, reports mentioned that PSG submitted a record-breaking €250 million fee to acquire Yamal’s services to replace Kylian Mbappe.

The offer presumed to be from the Parisians, was not entertained for a moment in the Barcelona hierarchy, as the Blaugranes wish to retain his services for many years to come.

Yamal, who is set to turn 17 in a few days, has emerged as the standout star of the Euros with the Spanish national team.

The 16-year-old extended his contract until 2026, with a private agreement for a further extension until 2030 upon reaching the required age. He also boasts a €1 billion release clause, underlining his importance to Barcelona’s future plans.

The Catalans view him as pivotal to their future, particularly with the imminent reopening of Spotify Camp Nou. In fact, the teenage sensation is also well-placed to take over Lionel Messi’s iconic number 10 jersey.

Following an immensely promising domestic campaign, Yamal’s performances on the international stage serve to highlight the absurdity of his talent and explain why opponents are willing to break the bank on him.

Thankfully for the club, though, Yamal considers Barcelona his home. Having risen through the club’s fabled academy, he holds a deep-rooted loyalty to Barcelona and envisions a long-term career with the Catalan giants.
