Birmingham Phoenix edged out the London Spirit by 3 wickets

In a thrilling encounter at Lord’s on July 27, 2024, the Birmingham Phoenix edged out the London Spirit by 3 wickets with just one ball to spare in the fifth match of The Hundred Men’s Competition.

Batting first, London Spirit managed 127 for 7 in their allotted 100 balls, with Andre Russell’s unbeaten 37 off 20 balls providing crucial runs. Sean Abbott was exceptional with the ball, claiming 4 for 14 and earning the Player of the Match honors.

Chasing 128, Phoenix faced early setbacks but were anchored by Dan Mousley’s steady 39 and Jacob Bethell’s aggressive 43 off 27 balls. Benny Howell’s quickfire 24 not out of 12 balls guided the Phoenix home, reaching 131 for 7 in 99 balls. Despite strong performances from Daniel Worrall and Olly Stone, who took two wickets each, the Spirit could not prevent the Phoenix from clinching a dramatic win.
