The third T20I between England and Australia in Manchester was marred by relentless rain, leading to a complete washout without a single ball being bowled. Fans at Old Trafford endured long periods of waiting, hoping for a brief respite in the weather, but persistent showers made any chance of play impossible. The umpires conducted multiple inspections, but ultimately, the wet outfield and continuous rain forced the match to be abandoned in the late afternoon.

This abandonment left the series tied at 1-1, with both teams sharing the spoils after two hard-fought contests. Australia took the first game, with England bouncing back in the second T20I thanks to a brilliant performance by Liam Livingstone, whose powerful hitting and all-round contributions were a key highlight of the series. Livingstone scored 124 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 167 and also took five wickets, proving his importance to the England setup.

The washout may be a relief for Australia, who were saved by the weather for the second time in Manchester after a similar situation in the Ashes last year. For England, it was a frustrating end to what promised to be a thrilling decider. The focus for both teams now shifts to the ODI leg of the tour, with the first game scheduled for Thursday.

Despite the disappointing conclusion to the T20I series, anticipation remains high for the ODIs, especially with England building toward the 2027 World Cup and Australia looking to finalize their preparations ahead of the upcoming home summer.
